Claire Bond
Claire is a workshop leader, project manager and freelance musician. Initially trained classically on saxophone, piano and voice at the University of Birmingham, she has developed her practice to include a wide range of musical styles and forms. Claire is currently teaching herself the guitar and budongo (Ugandan thumb piano), is a keen jazz saxophonist, and is a member of local choir, Notorious. Claire has always been interested in community music and in creating opportunities for others to make music. She has just completed the Creative Apprentices training programme, developing skills in workshop delivery and creative project work. As part of the programme, Claire devised and delivered an African music project in Courthouse Green primary school, Coventry, collaborating closely with staff to facilitate links with the current curriculum.<br /> <br />Claire has co-ordinated concerts and events for the University Music Society and after graduating, independently planned a three month trip to Eastern Europe, China and Mongolia, where she participated in Roaring Hooves contemporary music festival in the Gobi desert. Claire has particularly enjoyed her recent work with the Voluntary Services at St Mary’s Hospital, Portsmouth, where she developed and delivered a series of music workshops on the paediatrics ward.
