A night in with the NYO
sound futures was happy to indulge in a spot of mid-week culture at the National Youth Orchestra Summer Concert at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Wednesday 3rd August.
Showcasing the fruits of their annual Summer residency in Brum the 165 young musicians brought musical fire to the stage with a feisty performance of Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet (aka the Apprentice theme tune!) and some urban attitude as DJ Switch sliced his way coolly through the orchestra in Concerto for Turntables (written by Prokofiev's grandson, Gabriel).
Brilliant and inspirational night of music!
The NYO is supported by Youth Music and holds annual auditions for membership. For further information visit www.nyo.org.uk.
