Testimonials

"The project is a bit different - you're with a group of friends, learning something new!" Member of Hodge Hill Girls' Bhangra Club

"Children across the centre have benefited from the work that Fiona has done. Levels of involvement and incidences of children  self initiating musical activities has greatly increased. Great numbers of children are joining in with musical conversations and using music as a method of communication" Deputy Head Teacher, Washwood Heath Children’s Centre

"These sessions vary to others as they are participant-led, responding to student need and query" Denise Rice, Head of Music, Hodge Hill Girls School

SoundFutures find DJ Heroes at the Overpool Community Day

ACID project

On Saturday 5th December Sound Futures took part in the World of Overpool community day searching out local DJ Heroes.

Resident DJ on the day Duncan Grimley helped 20 young people turn their hand to the decks to try out mixing and scratching techniques.

DJs from the ages of 3 to 18 had their "Fifteen Minutes of Fame" and came out buzzing with great comments about their experiences:

“It was good for all the kids on the streets”

"I loved it, it was so cool"

The lively event, organised by Birmingham City Council delivered a variety of fun activities including mehndi art, face painting, art and craft workshops and a climbing wall.
