Strategy
sound futures currently works in four priority areas:
Early Years and their families
developing communication skills between children and parents
Young People in Challenging Circumstances
reducing anti-social behaviour, developing self esteem and building confidence
Encouraging Talent & Potential
nurturing musical talent and identifying progression routes
Workforce Development
preparing music leaders to deliver music project work that delivers outcomes against multiple agendas
Our objectives are to:
- initiate experimental and progressive models of partnership working
- disseminate models on a citywide basis, and wider as appropriate
- recruit and retain youth music leaders in the city and develop their practice
- support organisations in the non-arts sector and their staff by developing their capacity to plan, initiate, deliver and evaluate youth music work
- develop work that delivers measurable outcomes against partners’ objectives
- link opportunities in the formal and informal sectors
- provide clear routes to vocational training
Some key aims from our action plan 2010-12 are to:
- roll out Birmingham City Council’s Music Entitlement Programme
- upskill music leaders to work sensitively and successfully with Muslim children
- develop a dynamic programme of user led projects
